QUEBEC BRIDGE CLOSED
May 12, 2008. After September 2006’s De La Concorde overpass tragedy and following thorough inquiry, Transport Quebec isn’t taking any chances. Last Thursday night officials closed the bridge while repairs were made, and now, after finding a second crack in the 50-year-old structure on Sunday, it has been closed to all traffic.

Yesterday Lawrence Cannon, minister of transport, infrastructure and communities, welcomed the proposal from the Detroit River International Crossing (DRIC) study team on the technically preferred alternative for the access road from Highway 401 to the proposed new international border crossing.

QUEBEC BRIDGE REPAIR WORK BEGINS
April 25, 2008. The Government of Canada announced today that a contract has been awarded to start work on replacing the deck of Quebec’s Honore-Mercier Bridge.

April 24, 2008. On April 22, HAZCO Environmental Services (HAZCO), a CCS company with head offices in Calgary, announced the acquisition of TEAM-1 Environmental Services Inc. (TEAM-1) based in Hamilton, Ontario to form TEAM HAZCO.
