CPCI announces annual award winners

The Canadian Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (CPCI) announced the 2016 CPCI Awards to deserving engineering, architectural and real estate firms who have helped advance the Canadian precast prestressed concrete industry with excellence in their fields. This year’s winners were chosen by CPCI staff, the CPCI Chairman of the Board, and the CPCI Alberta Chapter members.

“CPCI is proud to acknowledge the contributions of these excellent firms. It will be a pleasure to celebrate their awards and welcome them in person at the presentation in Banff this October,” says Peter Yurkiw, CPCI chairman of the board.

The CPCI Engineering Excellence Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the Canadian precast prestressed concrete industry in engineering, innovation, education, sustainability and change; for positive leadership, industry-altering development and expansion; and for accelerating the growth of the Canadian precast prestressed concrete industry from within the engineering community.

For 2016, the following engineering firms were selected as recipients of the CPCI Engineering Excellence Award:

  • Read Jones Christoffersen Consulting Engineers – Calgary Office
  • Stantec – Calgary Office

The Roy Willwerth Precast Concrete Architectural Recognition Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the Canadian precast prestressed concrete industry in architectural and structural design, sustainability, innovation and change; for positive leadership, industry-altering development and expansion; and for accelerating the growth of the Canadian precast prestressed concrete industry from within the architectural and design communities.

For 2016, the following architectural firms were selected as the recipients of the Roy Willwerth Precast Concrete Architectural Recognition Award:

  • Gibbs Gage Architects
  • Group2 Architecture Interior Design Ltd.

The CPCI Real Estate Development Award of Excellence recognizes outstanding contributions to the Canadian precast prestressed concrete industry in real estate development, architecture, engineering, innovation, education, sustainability; and change for positive leadership, industry-altering development and expansion; and for accelerating the growth of the Canadian precast prestressed concrete industry from within the real estate development community.

For 2016, the following real estate firms were selected as recipients of the CPCI Engineering Excellence Award:

  • Remington Development Corporation
  • Centron Real Estate Development & Construction

The awards will be presented on October 5 at the CPCI Annual General Meeting at the Fairmont Banff Springs in Banff, Alta. Each year these awards are bestowed upon firms in the CPCI Chapter where the CPCI AGM is held.
