The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic made it clear that not all of the infrastructure within our communities is prepared for a disruptive event. From simple things like the width of our sidewalks to more complex issues like our space for growing medical testing capacity, the infrastructure we have in place doesn’t have the flexibility to meet the demands of a disruptive event.

How do we design infrastructure differently to meet these changing demands? Can we incorporate more mobile infrastructure, or do we need to focus more on flexible spaces?

We’ll explore these issues and more as we look to re-design infrastructure to ensure we are ready for the next disruptive event.
