The construction of the Tłįchǫ All-Season Road moved a step closer to reality with the announcement by Finance Minister Robert C. McLeod that three proponents have qualified for the project, pursuant to the Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) Request for Qualifications. The Request for Qualifications was released in March.

The three proponents are:

  • Aurora Access Partners
  • NAE Transportation Partners
  • North Star Infrastructure

These proponents will be invited to participate in the next stage of the competitive selection process, the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage. If the project proceeds, timing for issuance of an RFP will be subject to progress of the environmental assessment.

The project is comprised of the design, build, finance, operation, and maintenance of a 97km all-season gravel highway from kilometer 196 of Highway 3 to the community of Whatì.
