Kamloops delivers $327M in community infrastructure projects

Over the past two years, the City of Kamloops’ Infrastructure Delivery Division has delivered approximately $327 million in capital construction across 63 projects.

Nearly all projects were completed on time and within approved budgets, with overall spending five per cent below budget.

Some notable projects delivered during this time include the following:

“Behind every road improvement, park upgrade, or utility project is a focus on quality and long-term value for our community,” said Matt Kachel, the City’s Infrastructure Delivery Divisional Manager. “As Kamloops grows, we’re building infrastructure that residents can rely on.”

Municipal infrastructure spans an extensive range of assets, from roadways and utility corridors to parks, civic buildings, and recreation facilities, including the visionary Build Kamloops program. Each project is designed to be durable and safe, ensuring it is built to last. The City said that by focusing on high-quality construction from the start, if reduces future maintenance needs and protects essential services for years to come.

Kamloops’ approach to infrastructure delivery is also gaining attention beyond the community. The City has been selected to help lead updates to the Master Municipal Construction Documents, which set construction standards for municipalities across British Columbia—recognition of Kamloops’ leadership and expertise in project delivery.

The City said that the Infrastructure Delivery Division remains focused on adaptive planning, proactive risk management, and continuous improvement. By balancing fiscal responsibility with innovation, sustainability, and collaboration, the City said it is dedicated to building infrastructure that serves residents while creating lasting value.
