The Stage 2 interchange at Airport Trail and Stoney Trail NE, in Rocky View County, AB, recently opened to partial traffic with plans to have the project complete and fully open in early November 2026

The $37-million project was funded by a $23.8 million investment from the Government of Alberta with the balance of funding being contributed by Genesis Land Development Corp. Rocky View County administered the provincial funding.

“This interchange strengthens one of Alberta’s key trade corridors, supports employment growth, improves safety, and eases daily travel for the families and businesses that depend on it,” said PS Sidhu, president and CEO of Genesis.

The interchange completes full directional access to Stoney Trail at Airport Trail. It gives oversize and overweight loads a safer route through a trade corridor linking Calgary International Airport and the CN Calgary Logistics Park, and it shortens trips for residents and businesses in northeast Calgary and east Rocky View County.

The interchange was built by Graham Infrastructure, with engineering by Urban Systems.

“This joint project will improve safety by completing access to Stoney Trail from Airport Trail and strengthen a key trade corridor connecting Calgary International Airport with the CN Calgary Logistics Park,” said Devin Dreeshen, Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors.

“This investment strengthens a vital transportation connection, supports economic growth, and creates new opportunities for residents and businesses across our region,” added Sunny Samra, Rocky View County Reeve.
