Request for Proposals closed for new Ontario Science Centre

Infrastructure Ontario announced that the Request for Proposals (RFP) stage has closed for teams submitting bids to design, build, finance and maintain the new Ontario Science Centre.

Following a fair, open and transparent Request for Qualifications process, three teams were prequalified and invited to respond to an RFP in January 2025. The following teams submitted proposals by the deadline:

DiscoverON Partners: 

  • Applicant Leads: Fengate Capital Management Ltd. and Pomerleau Capital Inc.
  • Design Team: Cumulus Architects Inc. and Daoust Lestage Lizotte Stecker
  • Construction Team: Pomerleau Inc.
  • Facilities Management:  Honeywell Limited
  • Financial Advisor: National Bank Financial, Inc.

EllisDon Infrastructure: 

  • Applicant Lead: EllisDon Capital Inc.
  • Design Team: Belvedere Architecture and BDP Quadrangle Architects Limited
  • Construction Team: EllisDon Corporation
  • Facilities Management: EllisDon Facilities Services Inc.
  • Financial Advisor: EllisDon Capital Inc.

Ontario Science Partners: 

  • Applicant Leads: John Laing Limited, Sacyr Infrastructure Canada Inc. and Amico Major Projects Inc.
  • Design Team: Hariri Inc. & D. Pontarini Inc., Snohetta Architecture, Landscape Architecture P.C.
  • Construction Team: Sacyr Canada Inc, and Amico Design Build Inc.
  • Facilities Management: Johnson Controls Canada L.P.

The next steps will include evaluation of proposals, selecting a preferred team and negotiation of a final contract. The selected team is expected to be announced in early 2026. A fairness monitor is overseeing the entire procurement process.

As part of the province’s work to rebuild Ontario Place into a into a world-class, year-round destination, Infrastructure Ontario (IO) is working with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming to build a new state-of-the-art Ontario Science Centre facility on the mainland at Ontario Place. The historic Cinesphere and Pod complex will also be preserved, updated and integrated into the new facility.
