Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Tourism, Gaming and Culture (MTCG) have awarded a contract to EllisDon Civil Ltd. for construction management services for the development of the public realm as part of the Ontario Place Redevelopment.
The final project cost will be confirmed once prices are finalized for various subcontracts and major supplies.
IO and MTCG selected EllisDon Civil Ltd. following extensive evaluations through an open, fair and competitive procurement process that began in June 2025.
Selection criteria included construction capability, experience, qualified personnel, and financial capacity to deliver a project of this size and scope. A third-party fairness monitor oversaw the entire procurement process.
The scope of work includes:
- Upgrading the public spaces and creating new and expanded waterfront access.
- Restoring and enhancing the water’s edge and securing continuous public access throughout the site.
- Completing landscaping and site development work, including adding new structural amenities, attractions and features to enhance visitor experience and functionality of the site.
EllisDon Civil Ltd. will commence construction work in the coming weeks, with completion targeted Summer 2030.
In June, a $198 million contract was awarded to Pomerleau for the parking structure aspect of the redevelopment.
