Calgary awards digital asset management contract to Arcadis

Arcadis has been awarded a multiyear contract with the City of Calgary to advance the management of the city’s infrastructure portfolio. By deploying Enterprise Decision Analytics (EDA)—an intelligent asset management software—Calgary will become the first municipality in Canada to use the platform across multiple asset types. This includes potential asset types such as transportation networks, water and wastewater systems, emergency services, public parks, and civic buildings, enabling the city to have comprehensive oversight within a single integrated digital system.

The decision to adopt EDA comes as a strategic response by Calgary to the growing challenges associated with updating and maintaining aging infrastructure, while delivering balanced budgets and reliable services. Over a two-year term, the platform will enable the city to streamline asset management and make faster, smarter, and more cost-efficient decisions. EDA consolidates data across departments and applies advanced analytics that help prioritize urgent repairs and identify impactful investment opportunities. The EDA solution will reduce disruptions to residents, improve the efficiency of existing infrastructure, and extend the life of critical assets.

“Through EDA, the City of Calgary can confidently make forward-thinking and data-backed decisions that optimize spending, extend the life of critical assets, and enhance the quality of life for its residents. We look forward to playing a key role in supporting Calgary as it builds a more resilient and efficient future.” said Rob Corazzola, Global Sales Director, Digital Intelligence, Arcadis.

EDA is purpose-built to handle a wide range of asset management challenges and can be configured based on each client’s unique objectives and portfolio requirements. Whether it’s maintaining railroad tracks, replacing pipe networks, modernizing the power grid, or implementing carbon-reducing strategies, EDA provides a flexible, scalable solution to enhance decision making across any infrastructure systemSome additional benefits include:

  1. Predicting and preventing infrastructure failures, like potholes and water main breaks
  2. Streamlining planning, reporting, and regulatory compliance processes
  3. Improving the accuracy of investment decisions across all asset types
  4. Supporting long-term sustainability and resilience goals
  5. Helping to mitigate the need for tax or rate increases through better use of resources

“After completing a comprehensive procurement process, the City of Calgary is excited to work with a world-class partner such as Arcadis to continually improve its asset management capabilities,” said Steve Wyton, Manager, Asset Management Planning at the City of Calgary.

The initial two-year term of the agreement has the potential to be extended up to 12 years, allowing the City to gradually use EDA to replace legacy systems, streamline processes, and establish a modern and concise approach to asset management.
