Ontario celebrates completion of new Brock Community Health Centre

The Government of Ontario celebrated the completion of Brock Community Health Centre’s (CHC) new state-of-the-art facility in Cannington, connecting more people in Brock Township and the surrounding areas to primary care and health promotion services, close to home.

“Our government is protecting Ontario’s health-care system and ensuring that more people in Brock Township and the surrounding communities can connect to comprehensive primary care services, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “The new and improved Brock Community Health Centre will make it faster and easier for more patients and their families to access quality primary care and health services in their community, for years to come.”

Supported by a provincial investment of $16.6 million, the new 19,000-square-foot community health centre will increase access to primary-care services and programs and serve as a hub for health-care organizations and service providers.

“Brock Community Health Centre’s Board of Directors and staff, as well as members of the community, are grateful to the Ministry of Health, Minister Jones and MPP Scott for the continued commitment to our capital project. This new facility is our community hub. We look forward to working with Minister Jones on delivering inclusive, interdisciplinary primary health care close to home for the residents of Brock Township and surrounding areas,” said Janet McPherson, executive director, Brock Community Health Centre.

The new community health centre will provide patients and families with:

  • Expanded access to physicians and nurse practitioners, with eight new, larger clinic rooms
  • Expert nutrition education, including Registered Dietitian services and a teaching kitchen to support healthy meal preparation
  • Physiotherapy services
  • Comprehensive assessments and behavioural supports for seniors to support independence and improve quality of life
  • Two dental suites to address growing dental needs for children through Durham Region’s Healthy Smiles Program
  • Foot care services
  • A new multi-purpose room to facilitate fitness and health education programs and community events

“The opening of the new Brock Community Health Centre marks a major milestone in connecting more people in our community to the primary care and health services they deserve,” said Laurie Scott, MPP for Haliburton—Kawartha Lakes—Brock. “With the $16.6 million investment from the provincial government this facility will not only enhance access to care but also strengthen our local health system by offering comprehensive, team-based services closer to home.”
