Ontario Tech expanding on-campus living with plans for new residence

Ontario Tech University broke ground on The Ridge, a new on-campus residence that will welcome students starting in Fall 2027.

“Ontario Tech continues to grow as a vibrant, student-centred university. This new residence is a clear example of how we are building for the future. Through our forward-thinking approach, we’re ensuring our students have the resources they need to thrive, while contributing to solutions for the province’s housing challenges. We are proud of our partnership with Campus Suites and Woodbourne, and we can’t wait to welcome our expanding community of students to these modern residences in Fall 2027,” said Brad MacIsaac, vice president, Administration, Ontario Tech University.

To be constructed just north of the Campus Ice Centre along a natural water course feature, the residence will open in stages: 450 beds in the first phase, with long-term plans to accommodate about 2,000 students. This project advances Ontario Tech’s campus expansion plans to meet today’s needs while preparing for the future, and will help support the university’s growth target of 20,000 students.

Ontario Tech is proud to be a long-term partner in the new residence, leasing university land to enable development. A consortium led by Campus Suites and Woodbourne will complete the project, with Campus Living Centres managing operations.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the signing for this project with Ontario Tech University, a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation. This project is an incredible opportunity to meet the growing demand for student housing while creating a community-focused environment that supports academic success and student well-being, further enhancing Ontario Tech’s offerings by proving best-in-class housing and amenities. We are a multi-generational business, which aligns with the long-term approach required by this relationship,” said Josh Morton, vice president and COO, Campus Suites.
