Skills Ontario celebrates winning 30 medals at 2025 Skills Canada National Competition

After two days of showcasing their skills, Team Ontario returned home from the 2025 Skills Canada National Competition in Regina with 30 medals.

At a Closing Ceremony on May 31st following the competition, which took place from May 29th to May 30th, Team Ontario took home 30 medals: 13 gold medals, nine silver medals, and eight bronze medals.

During the Closing Ceremony, RBC also presented an award called the RBC Best of Region Awards to a competitor, or competitors, from each province and territory with the best-weighted score. For Ontario, the RBC Best of Region Award was presented to Team Ontario competitor Noah Rittenhouse of Mohawk College for CNC Machining post-secondary contest.

“Advancing to the National level is a massive achievement on its own, and we congratulate all our competitors for their success. These young people have worked hard at developing their skills for programs like these, which are changing lives and inspiring leaders through skilled trades and technologies. The future of Ontario is in good hands,” said Ian Howcroft, CEO of Skills Ontario.

Team Ontario is represented by the top competitors advancing from the 2025 Skills Ontario Competition which took place earlier in May at the Toronto Congress Centre. At the National level, these competitors competed against the best skilled trade and technology competitors from across the country.

This year is a WorldSkills Team Canada Qualifying year for the opportunity to compete to represent Canada at WorldSkills in Shanghai, China, 2026. Four team Ontario competitors from three contests received invitations to join WorldSkills Team Canada: Ethan Almeida of Centennial College (Autobody Repair), Luca Assad of George Brown College (Cooking), and Cole Hunter & Grant Maddock of Humber Polytechnic (Mechatronics).
