About The Project

This crossing is the largest and most ambitious binational border infrastructure project along the Canada–United States border. It includes a new six-lane bridge across the Detroit River, associated border inspection plazas, and connections to the freeway systems in Ontario and Michigan. In the summer of 2024, work to connect the bridge deck between Windsor and Detroit was completed, with the bridge becoming an official border crossing. Completion of the project is planned for September 2025, with the first vehicles expected to travel across the bridge.
