IO awards contract for Quinte Detention Centre Expansion Project

Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and the Ministry of the Solicitor General (SOLGEN) have awarded a $178 million fixed-price contract to EBC Inc. to deliver construction of the Quinte Detention Centre Expansion Project in Greater Napanee.

This project is part of the government’s plan to increase adult correctional capacity by adding space for 91 inmates, bringing the institution’s total capacity to more than 300 inmates. The expansion will increase capacity for female inmates and enhance recreational service areas. It will also expand key operational areas, including reception and visitation, admissions and discharge, health services and the infirmary, and the Institutional Crisis Intervention Team, among others.

Construction is expected to begin later this year.
