The City of Regina is investing over $4 million in infrastructure with the Dewdney Avenue Twinning Project, which will enhance traffic flow and safety for commuters, improve drainage and lighting, and meet growing demands from the Global Transportation Hub area.
This two-year project will see Dewdney Avenue between Courtney Street and Pinkie Road upgraded to four lanes of traffic, two lanes in each direction. Drainage work will also be completed, along with the installation of dedicated left-turn bays at all intersections, landscaped medians, and streetlighting.
“This project will enhance safety for the 4,800 commuters using this roadway every day and I’m pleased to see the work beginning,” says Mayor Michael Fougere.
Work will begin in June and is anticipated to be close to completion by end of year with minor work carrying into spring 2021. The entire project is estimated to cost $8.5 million.
The City of Regina is working closely with contractors and crews to ensure pandemic protocols are in place so work can be carried out in a safe and timely fashion.
