About The Project

The railway rehabilitation project aims to promote the resumption of passenger and freight transport service between Matapédia and Gaspé, including the rehabilitation or reconstruction of network infrastructure; stabilization of sites presenting risks for the railway due to the instability of rock cliffs or coastal erosion; and upgrading of tracks through asset maintenance works. The project was split into three sections to facilitate its completion, namely from Matapédia to Caplan (126 kms), from Caplan to Port-Daniel–Gascons (72 kms) and from Port-Daniel–Gascons to Gaspé (127 kms).
