About The Project

The Highway 104 twinning project includes 28 kilometres of new two-lane twinned highway and 10 kilometres of new four-lane twinned highway from Sutherland’s River to Antigonish. There are two new interchanges, 24 new bridges, as well as upgrading existing sections of the highway. As of December 6, 2022, segment 4B/4C between Exit 30 (James River) and Exit 31 (West of Antigonish) was open. Remaining segments will be open as work is complete. The project remains on schedule, and it is anticipated that construction will be complete by end of 2023.
