About The Project

The original Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel was constructed in 1967 and needed significant rehabilitation. In July 2020, the contract was awarded for the rehabilitation project. Construction work began in 2021. The main work in the tunnel consists of carrying out major structural repairs, modernizing operating equipment, redeveloping service corridors, and adding fire protection. The rehabilitation of the first traffic tube of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel is complete. .
