About The Project

The Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project is a QEII Renew partnership between the Government of Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Health and Build Nova Scotia. This project will deliver a modern acute care tower with 216 beds, 16 operating rooms, an intensive care unit, and a larger emergency department. QEII Renew will enhance access to care, replace aging infrastructure, and support clinical excellence for future generations of Nova Scotians. Completion of the acute care tower will enable services to be relocated from aging facilities, including the Victoria and Centennial Buildings at the QEII Victoria General campus, to a modern, new building and renovated program spaces. Excavation for the QEII Halifax Infirmary acute care tower was completed in September 2025.
