About The Project
The Réseau express metropolitain (REM) will be a new integrated network linking downtown Montreal, South Shore, West Island, North Shore, and the airport. Once completed, the 67-km line will be one of the longest automated metro lines in the world. The REM opened its first segment on July 31, 2023, with five new stations spread over 17 kilometres. The Deux-Montagnes branch welcomed its first riders on Nov. 17, 2025. Commercial service between the South Shore and the North Shore REM now has 14 new stations and 50 kilometres of network in service, tripling its coverage and quadrupling the number of stations in operation.
