In celebration of International Women’s Day and Women in Construction Week, the Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) is hosting an online webinar examining the actions needed to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive construction industry.

CAWIC is the national not-for-profit organization committed to enhancing the success of women in the Canadian construction industry. As the leading voice for women in construction, CAWIC supports, connects, and unites women across the construction industry.

The virtual roundtable discussion on March 8 at 1:30 EST will examine the positive opportunities ahead.

Speakers include:

  • Lisa Laronde, President, CAWIC; President, RSG International; and Director, Ontario Road Builders’ Association
  • Jamie West, Director, CAWIC and President, Peninsula Construction
  • Alessandra Valerio, Building Envelope Consultant, UL Solutions
  • Susan Carey, President, BuildSafe – Construction Safety Services Inc.
  • Elizabeth Driscoll, General Manager, Design Concrete Inc.

Laronde is the first woman President of RSG International, a global leader in road safety infrastructure, and was recently named to the Board of Directors of the Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA).

“I believe this is an indication that the industry is changing. Although I might be the only woman on the board today, we must start somewhere. I have a voice, and I will use it,” explains Laronde. “I think this is the beginning of something extraordinary.”

Laronde was recently recognized as one of Canada’s ‘Top 100 Most Powerful Women’; she’s also the President of the Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) and is widely known as a fierce advocate for women in leadership. Laronde is passionate about building psychologically safe work environments where diversity and inclusion are at the forefront of any organization, she’s a part of.
