About The Project
The Yukon Resource Gateway Project will upgrade infrastructure for up to 650 kilometres of existing roads in areas with high mineral potential active mining in the Yukon. The Yukon government is working in collaboration with Yukon First Nations to seek input and finalize Project Agreements for components of the Yukon Resource Gateway Program within their Traditional Territories. Six Project Agreements have been signed for seven components with Yukon First Nations to date. The program will provide opportunities to Yukon First Nations through short and long-term employment options, training and benefits agreements. In the Fall of 2023, the Carmacks Bypass component of the project was completed. This project included a new road and bridge, which will allow for industrial mining trucks to bypass the community of Carmacks and create a safer flow of traffic. The Government of Yukon is now focusing on progressing the Robert Campbell Highway components and the Silver Trail. Future projects will follow as Project Agreements with Yukon First Nations are reached and implemented.
