Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and Wahnapitae First Nation, together with their economic development corporations and Thompson Construction Group (TCG), have established Mino-Ayaawin Asin GP Inc., a new Indigenous partnership created to pursue construction, remediation and other major project opportunities within the Nations’ traditional territories and across the broader region.
Mino-Ayaawin Asin means “Rock of Prosperity.” The name reflects the partnership’s focus on building long-term capacity, meaningful Indigenous economic participation and lasting benefits for the communities it represents.
“Mino-Ayaawin Asin brings together the knowledge and leadership of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and Wahnapitae First Nation with TCG’s construction capabilities and experience delivering complex projects. We look forward to building opportunities together that support employment, training, business growth and long-term prosperity across the region,” said Aaron Bishop, president and CEO, Thompson Construction Group.
The partnership brings together TCG’s construction expertise and project delivery capabilities with the Nations’ Indigenous knowledge, relationships and strengths in procurement, employment, training and community liaison. Together, the partners will pursue opportunities that create local employment, skills development, business growth and greater Indigenous participation in projects throughout the region.
“Mino-Ayaawin Asin represents what is possible when First Nations and industry come together with a shared vision for prosperity. This partnership is about more than pursuing projects — it is about creating opportunities for our people, building skills and capacity, supporting Indigenous businesses, and ensuring that our communities benefit from the economic activity taking place in our region,” said Chief Gimaa Nootchtai, Atikameksheng Anishnawbek.
“By working together with Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and Thompson Construction Group, we are combining our strengths, relationships and experience to create opportunities that go beyond individual projects. We want to see our members working, gaining skills, building careers and participating in the prosperity being created around us,” added Chief Larry Roque, Wahnapitae First Nation.
