Infrastructure Ontario and Lakeridge Health have awarded a fixed-price contract of $856.8 million to PCL Partnerships to design, build and finance the Lakeridge Health – Bowmanville Hospital Redevelopment Project.
The PCL Partnerships team includes:
Project Development Lead: PCL Investments Inc.
Design Builder: PCL Constructors Canada Inc.
Design Team: Diamond and Schmitt Architects Incorporated & Cumulus Architects Inc.
Financial Advisor: TD Securities
“This redevelopment is about more than building a larger hospital. It’s about creating the space, services, and capacity to deliver exceptional care, closer to home, for generations to come. We’re grateful to [our partners] and our community for helping turn this long-awaited vision into reality,” said Cynthia Davis, president and CEO, Lakeridge Health
The project will more than double the size of the current hospital, increasing health care capacity in Durham Region. The expanded facility will enhance critical care services and include modern spaces such as ambulatory care clinics, a haemodialysis centre and private patient rooms.
“We are looking forward to working alongside Lakeridge Health, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Infrastructure and our project partners to advance this important investment in Durham Region and help create a modern hospital that will serve the community for generations,” said Angela Clayton, president and CEO, Infrastructure Ontario.
PCL Partnerships will begin mobilizing on site later this fall, with construction expected to begin early in the new year. Construction is targeted for completion in 2030.
“Our PCL Partnerships team looks forward to working with all project partners to bring the vision for the Bowmanville Hospital Redevelopment project to life,” said Geoff Howe, SVP and District Manager, PCL Constructors Canada Inc.
