Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Stevenson Memorial Hospital have invited three companies to respond to a request for proposals (RFP) to deliver the Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) Phase 1 Redevelopment Project.
Three companies were prequalified based on criteria identified in a request for qualifications process that began in August 2024.
The prequalified companies are:
- EllisDon Corporation
- Ledcor Construction Limited
- Pomerleau Inc.
The companies will now begin preparing proposals that detail how they will deliver the project. Once submissions are received, IO and Stevenson Memorial Hospital will evaluate the proposals.
“This is a very significant step in the hospital’s journey to build a much-needed new facility for our patients, staff and community,” said Eric Hanna, supervisor, SMH. “An incredible amount of work and planning has gone into this project over the years, and we are closer than ever to bringing a new, modernized, state-of-the-art health care facility to this growing community, providing high quality health care close to home.”
The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Redevelopment Project is being undertaken to redevelop, revitalize, and expand the hospital. At approximately146,200 square-feet, the newly designed wrap-around expansion of the hospital will include a replacement and expansion of the existing hospital’s acute care areas and associated support functions.
“Our government is making record investments to protect Ontario’s health care system and connect people to the care they need, when they need it. Today’s milestone brings us one step closer to getting shovels in the ground for Stevenson Memorial Hospital’s redevelopment and is another way our government is expanding capacity, decreasing wait times, and ensuring that families in New Tecumseth can access the right care, in the right place, for decades to come,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health.

The redesign of the hospital will feature significant use of natural light, modern features, enhanced parking, and new, refreshed gardens and green spaces. A new, elevated helipad will also be a part of the project. As part of the new redevelopment, the hospital’s clinical areas will include:
- Emergency Department
- Laboratory
- Medical/Surgical (inpatient)
- Diagnostic Imaging
- Surgical Suite
- Birthing Unit/Obstetrics
- Pharmacy
- Medical Device Reprocessing
- Environmental Services
- Materials Management
“Congratulations to the Stevenson Memorial team on this major step towards a modernized and expanded hospital in New Tecumseth. This landmark investment is part of our government’s nearly $200 billion capital plan to build Ontario, which is getting more shovels in the ground on critical infrastructure projects across communities while protecting our economy and jobs,” said Kinga Surma, Minister of Infrastructure.
