Bridge over Hwy. 400 in Vaughan opens

The City of Vaughan announced the completion of the Canada Drive Bridge over Highway 400.

The total project construction cost for the bridge is estimated at $33 million, with the city’s share estimated at $14.5 million, $7.5 million from the federal Housing Accelerator Fund and the remaining balance coming from The Regional Municipality of York.

“I am thrilled to see another key commitment in the City of Vaughan’s Nine Point Action Plan to Fight Traffic Gridlock become a reality. By connecting communities on both sides of Highway 400, this new bridge strengthens our transportation network, supports seamless travel by car, bike and foot, and creates a critical east-west link that will help ease congestion,” said Mayor Steven Del Duca. 

The City awarded the contract to EllisDon Civil Ltd. to undertake the detailed design and construction of the bridge. Entuitive, AECOM, Hatch, along with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, also collaborated on the project.
