Lindsay has served as Metrolinx’s interim president and CEO since December 16, 2024, providing steady leadership during a critical transition period.

The Board of Directors conducted an extensive global search to identify the ideal candidate to lead Metrolinx into its next phase of growth and transformation. Having demonstrated strong leadership, strategic vision, and an unwavering commitment to the organization’s mandate during his interim tenure, Michael was selected for the permanent role.

“We are thrilled to officially welcome Michael as our president and CEO,” said Don Wright, chair of the Board. “His proven ability to inspire the team and drive progress during the interim period gives us great confidence in his leadership as we move forward.”

Before joining Metrolinx Lindsay was president and CEO of Infrastructure Ontario, where he worked closely with both public and private sectors to build, manage, finance and enhance the value of the province’s assets. With a track record of success and many years of service building infrastructure in Ontario, he is committed to advancing Ontario’s historic transit expansion program.

“I am humbled and honoured to be offered this important responsibility,” said Michael Lindsay. “I look forward to working with our talented team and partners to deliver the modern and high-quality transit network our communities need and deserve.”

The interim tag was also removed from Angela Clayton’s title, as she was appointed Infrastructure Ontario’s CEO, effective July 1.

“Her appointment ensures continuity of experience in infrastructure, strategic planning, and public-private partnerships. Her leadership over the recent past has been instrumental in advancing IO’s $100 billion infrastructure portfolio, including major transit, healthcare, and justice initiatives. Angela’s vision for collaboration and innovation will continue to drive IO’s commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure projects,”   said David Lindsay, chair IO board of directors.

“Let me also take this moment to acknowledge the great contribution Michael Lindsay made to IO. Through his capable leadership, IO saw incredible achievement and growth as we delivered on our established project and realty services while growing in new areas such as broadband and transit-oriented communities. Metrolinx is fortunate to have him as their permanent CEO and we wish him the best.”
