The Dartmouth General Hospital’s expansion and renovation, part of the QEII redevelopment project, continues to move forward.

The third tender for construction services at the hospital was issued today, Dec. 20. This is for interior work for the new addition and renovations within the existing hospital.

The work includes:

  • demolition and hazardous materials remediation
  • structural modifications
  • interior partitions
  • doors frames and hardware
  • ceilings, flooring, wall finishes
  • millwork
  • mechanical and electrical rough-in and fit-out
  • fire protection
  • building automation systems

The expansion and renovations will result in space for 48 beds on the fifth floor plus eight new operating rooms to replace four existing operating rooms. Outpatient care areas and diagnostic imaging areas will also be expanded.

The deadline for submissions is Jan. 31. Details of the request for proposals are available at: novascotia.ca/tenders/tenders/ns-tenders.aspx.

Along with the expansion and renovations at the Dartmouth General Hospital, the QEII redevelopment project includes improvements to the QEII Health Sciences Centre’s Halifax Infirmary site and Hants Community Hospital that will support the eventual closure of the Centennial and Victoria buildings on the Victoria General campus.
